I've already mentioned my love for Australian handmade brand Hopeless (among other Antipodean labels), but Emma Highfield's eponymous brand is definitely on my list of ones to watch.
Emma Highfield is a freelance costume and lingerie designer based in Auckland, New Zealand who also extends her skills to creating one off designer headpieces and fascinators. Most of the collection is handmade to order, in fabrics such as lace, velvet and silk satin by the designer herself, who is self taught(!) on a sewing machine.
Having noticed this label a few months ago, I'm really pleased to see the direction it appears to be heading in. Initially, the collections featured a fairly frou frou mix of prints, ruffles, bows and colour. I love how the collection has kept this original feel but is now a little more refined, with more wearable pieces that would not look out of place in any sophisticated lingerie store.
Following on from last season's black lace bodysuits and suspender knickers- which I am still very much into- the latest collection (which has only just become available to buy online) features a wide range of brightly coloured silk satin pieces which are designed to be mixed and matched across the entire range.
Emma Highfield has a newly opened Etsy store which houses the latest collection, plus some sale items and unique samples, where you can now shop in a variety of currencies, as well as a Big Cartel store where the collection is available to buy in New Zealand Dollars.
