Introducing: Emma Highfield Lingerie

Images (c) Emma Highfield

When it comes to interesting up and coming lingerie labels, it looks like Australia and New Zealand are fast becoming one of the places to start looking for some of the best. I've already mentioned my love for Australian handmade brand Hopeless (among other Antipodean labels), but Emma Highfield's eponymous brand is definitely on my list of ones to watch.

Emma Highfield is a freelance costume and lingerie designer based in Auckland, New Zealand who also extends her skills to creating one off designer headpieces and fascinators. Most of the collection is handmade to order, in fabrics such as lace, velvet and silk satin by the designer herself, who is self taught(!) on a sewing machine.

Having noticed this label a few months ago, I'm really pleased to see the direction it appears to be heading in. Initially, the collections featured a fairly frou frou mix of prints, ruffles, bows and colour. I love how the collection has kept this original feel but is now a little more refined, with more wearable pieces that would not look out of place in any sophisticated lingerie store.

Following on from last season's black lace bodysuits and suspender knickers- which I am still very much into- the latest collection (which has only just become available to buy online) features a wide range of brightly coloured silk satin pieces which are designed to be mixed and matched across the entire range.

Emma Highfield has a newly opened Etsy store which houses the latest collection, plus some sale items and unique samples, where you can now shop in a variety of currencies, as well as a Big Cartel store where the collection is available to buy in New Zealand Dollars.

Beautiful Bottoms SS2011 Sneaky Peek

One of my favourite up and coming British labels, Beautiful Bottoms, just posted this short and sweet little film on their Facebook page. The film, 'She Waits', is a collaboration between the lingerie and loungewear label, and London-based jewellery brand My Flash Trash.

Check out the video for sneak peeks of some of the key pieces coming to the Beautiful Bottoms collection for Spring/Summer 2011. Those pretty prints and sheer chiffons look tres yummy!

Alyson Le Borges Radiates Vintage Sex Bomb In Elle Russia

The term 'vintage inspired' has become a little over-used in lingerie recently, but sometimes it exactly describes a lingerie situation! In this shoot from the current issue of Elle Russia, the modern take on vintage lingerie that's heavily influencing the latest lingerie trends is showcased to perfection with model, Alyson Le Borges. I've mentioned before how much I love the 60s hair and makeup with good old fashioned lingerie, and with this editorial as an example, it's not hard to see why! That Elizabeth Taylor circa Cat On A Hot Tin Roof look can never go wrong.

Mimi Holliday SS2011 Collection

So it's cold outside, it's grey and the miserable weather just won't let up. It's best to stay in, hibernate, and not even think about brighter days, right? Wrong! Not if Mimi Holliday has anything to say about it. If the latest collection from the diffusion range by Damaris doesn't drag you into spring time, nothing will.

There's a refreshing palette of colours to suit every taste, whether you prefer virginal white and soothing pastel shades, or sexy black and va va voom red. This season the collection boasts an even wider selection of bra and knicker styles than ever before (with a very impressive range of bra sizes available in most designs), what's not to love about this collection?

It makes waiting for the new Damaris collection that much more unbearable!
